Well I cant upload the pics anyway cuz their in a zipped file, but I thought it over and thanks to you guys I have decided to take it. I think I'll wire him 150 and to hold on to it for me until this weekend. Cuz since he re posted the add its got over 100 additional views in just the last two days, so it's definitely bringing some attention. I know with my luck somebody with no job and too much money will find the time to steel it from me. You wouldn't think so with this unfortunate economy, but you guys don't know my luck lol. Thanks for the help guys I'll make sure to keep yall posted....

Thanks for posting those pics up for me.

Yea I read the add wrong he wants 1,950 not 1,850 so I figured 1,700 should be fair for what I can see from pics, and considering the bumpers are rattle caned and its a 50/50 bench. If the motor/trans seem solid and the paint is as good as it apers then 1,800.

Anyone know what g body's interchange seats with a 78?

all the gbody seats will swap. buckets are a pain to find but you could pretty much swap any car buckets into it if you measure them and they fit. just make sure to take the seat tracks with them. oh heres a site with body panels. what panels are you looking for? because quarter panels are next to impossible to find. all the ones ive seen are ones that have been cut off of a car. i have a pair of full replacement quarters from gm in my shed they cost me a grand 4 years ago. there are also a few guys on ebay that get 78/80 montes once in a while and always have tail lights and corner lights and grilles but they are also extremely expensive. 100 bucks or so for lights. anyway heres the link. and if you wanted fiberglass fenders, hood, and what not.

Great tips thanks!!!

Any last words from anyone, I'm a check it out and possibly drive it home tomorrow. Does 1,700 sound fair or is 1,950 already a deal if the motor checks out fine. Which I wouldn't mind some tips on what to look out for. Like I said I was going to just do a compression test and vacuum test.
Whats a good general rule of thumb for a compression test like +/- 10psi per cyl. I'm not really sure as for what to look for when it comes to vac testing other than with a street cam a motor should generally pull a steady 16-20 inch's, and anything below that or anything erratic would indicate a problem. What else should I look at as far as motor/trany inspection? Whats an easy way to identify a turbo350.

You might as well start at 1700, worst that can happen is that you can't talk him down any.

th350 and th250 look the same externally. heres a link with pan pics.
http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...identification
that should be about it. the whole vacuum thing isnt exactly true. i mean it all depends on what you consider a street cam. the one in my 80 doesnt produce 16inchs but i consider it a street cam.
as for compression test youre right. if it has headers the passenger side rear is going to be a pain.
i would also make sure to hammer it on a test drive and actually drive it around a little see if it over heats or blows a bunch of smoke out.
just remember what i said about the rust situation because if it has rotten quarters or floors your only real option is going to be patch panels. the wrong year montes can be had for a decent price with clean bodies all be it with undesirable motors in them, but motor swaps in my opinion are a lot easier than panel replacement and body work. good luck.

Yeah dixiemonte is an excellent site for parts-you might try nextag as well. There are a few out there but it took me alot of surfin to find.I found a company in NY that makes metal hoods although they have none in stock for the monte for a couple weeks.I recently did ALOT of shopping around for monte's and the price is pretty good if the stuff you cant see is as good or even close to the stuff you can.I got a 78 today for $500 actually-straight hood and many other good parts to swap over to my 79 landau.I checked every junkyard in WA for a hood,no luck,so I am happy as hell to have gotten a parts car in good shape.Oh-you can also look at chevelle sites for some parts as well, floor pan etc.Good luck bro.
