I only ever use synthetic. The BudChev gets Mobil 1 cuz that's what it always has. They are all good brands, but I never change brands because I am convinced that engine seals become conditioned to the additive package of any given oil. its this changing of oil types that modifies seals and causes the leaks, especial in older dirty engines. When those deposits get cleaned up, the leaking may begin.

When I was a kid, back in my lube shop days, I had an '83 Firebird (crappy 2.8 carb engine) that I was convinced leaked oil. I had to add a quart about once a month. But I was using cheap genetic any oil. I started at the lube shop and switched to Quaker State synthetic and that car never used a drop of oil again! A huge change in oil consumption. I thought the car was leaking it, but it was obviously burning it.

Synthetic oil is not some crazy foreign substance from another planet. It is merely more refined and only the best parts of regular mineral oil

That rotella is good stuff There's additives in there that are ment for diesels but help out a lot on gas engines I'd keep using that for now.

Nomatter what oil you use make sure it either has ZDDP(zinc) or buy an additive like the GM EOS, it will keep the cam healthy, Rotella T used to have alot of zinc in it but the emissions standards on diesels made them change the formula.

You have to have a lot of documentation, and start using it early in the engine's life. Also, if anything happened to the engine, it would have to be proven to be oil related damage.

I wanted to try getting on one of those warranties but the Monte always had too many miles to start.
