What is the funniest comment you've ever heard anyone say about your car?
Has he never heard it either? Surely he can tell a difference between the sound of V6 and a V8...you would think anyway lol
As I'm reading through this thread, it seems people really don't know what to make of Monte Carlo's. They're thinking they know the car and the person who owns the vehicle is telling them one thing and they don't believe it. It's like "I know my own car. I drive it everyday." Some people like to hear themselves talk and others just like to be wrong.
Yea, a v6 with stripes on the side is wayyyy faster than the v8.

I've got this kid that comes into work all the time with a ****ty flat black 4th gen, he found out I drive the jr and immediately said "Oh its not a real monte carlo, its a fwd v6!"
Once he gone outside since the doors were open...I made sure I said to my coworkers loud enough, "Yea...fwd or not, atleast my monte doesn't sound like something that came from a junk yard. I've heard way better, and way louder!" When he came back in...ohhhhh the look on his face.. Now I'm one of his favorite go-to part sales because I know my stuff

I had someone standing over my engine bay, scratching his head saying "Its a v8, right??" as I point out only 6 spark plug wires... and didn't believe me...
I had a neighbor/customer come up to me and said "Yea..I live around the corner from you! I've seen you put alot of hard work into that car...you put the stripes on yourself, right?" *facepalm*
My other favorite is people pass by my car and say "Ooooo this thing has a turbo!" or "Sweet is the turbo stock?" as it clearly says on both the engine cover, and on the side of the car "supercharged"
I've had a older gentleman ask what HP it puts out, told him 240hp and he freaks out thinking that is wicked fast...

I just went to car's an coffee yesterday and I was the only one with a Monte Carlo there, which surprised me because there were probably 100+ cars that were there, I had parked next to Ferrari f430 spider and my Monte got more looks then it did (which felt really good). I heard lot's of comments from people that just couldn't wrap there head around the fact that I had a V8. I even heard someone say to his friend that I swapped it with a corvette engine which made me absolutely bust out laughing. I guess technically he wasn't wrong since the LS4 is in kind of the same family as the vette engines. But once I told him it was stock and that this engine was made specifically for FWD cars, he had no clue this car was a FWD. The look on his face was hilarious. I wish I could have gotten some pics but I don't have a camera as of yet.
I was running a 1/8th mile test-n-tunes at Irwindale or Plamdale (can't remember) and every time I staged, the announcer would call me out as a "late model Impala"....It pissed me off at the time (because it happened 6 times) but has now become a running joke among my friends...lol
Had a cop tell me the rear tires on my 2000 Monte felt feathered, then proceed to yell at me for doing burnouts.
He wasn't exactly happy when I informed him it was front wheel drive.

Just kept saying "there is no point in showing me your V6"
