What does LSX stand for?
I was shoppin on ebay for my NEW SLP front grille, and noticed some SLP floor mats that said Monte Carlo LSX. I've seen one member call his Monte an LSX. Now i know what a Monte SS is, a Monte LS, the Monte LT and LTZ trim packages as well that came out in 06-07, but what is LSX and where did it originate from? Thank you very much!

here are the mats I saw... they talk about the SLP (street legal performance) LSX. They make it sound like it's a trim package offered on the Monte Carlo. I've also seen the LSX badging as well, and did see a member do up an LSX "custom" trunk lid panel.

LSX
At the 2006 SEMA show, GM Performance Parts introduced the LSX engine, an all-new cast-iron racing block based on the LS7 engine. It was designed with help from drag racing legend Warren Johnson. It offers displacements ranging from 364 cubic inches to 511 cubic inches (4.25" Bore x 4.5" Stroke) and is capable of withstanding 2500 bhp. This block incorporates two extra rows of head-bolt holes per bank for increased clamping capacity. The six bolt steel main caps are the same ones used on the LS7 engine. The engine debuted at the auto show in a customized 1969 Camaro owned by Reggie Jackson. The LSX will be available starting the second quarter of 2007, set to be available in authorized dealerships and retailers on March 31, 2007.[

When people on the forum refer to a GM engine as an LSx I've always thought that ment it was an engine from the LS family of V8's from GM, whether it be an LS1 (5.7L), LS2 (6.0L), LS4 (5.3L), LS6 (5.7L), etc, etc.????

Learn something new everyday. I didnt even realize GM had an LSX engine.
Now, that still makes no sense why anyone would have a Monte Carlo LSX, because they are front wheel drive cars, so how the heck could an LSX engine go into a Monte???? I don't think it could.
Only thing I can think of is that the Monte Carlo LSX would be aimed at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen Monte's!
