Venting!
Well I decided to do all the brakes myself on the monty this week. I put all new rotors and pads on the front brakes and painted the bracket and caliper to dress it up and it all went very smooth. Now the back is a different story. First caliper bolt I attempted to remove was completely seized. so after many douses of PB blaster I had to break out the pipe wrench. Not even the pipe wrench budged it. I even used a torch on the damn thing and NOTHING! Now the bolt is all chewed to crap and I have to have a shop take care of it. Then tear it all apart again to paint the calipers. I'm soo friggin pissed right now. I hate shops.
That's harse you had to have the shop do the rear for you, but like others said at least you saved some $$$ doing the front yourself.
I think the bold faced above is probably what chewed up the head of the bolt. I've had to put a 'cheater bar' on the end of a wrench or rachet a few times to break a stubborn bolt loose, but never a pipe wrench. Sometimes tapping the area around the bolt with a hammer while trying to loosen it will aid in breaking it free.

well what happened to begin with was the bolt got rounded right off with the first attempt. I did wack it with a hammer to try to jar it loose and that didnt work. Then I put the torch to it and still nothing. Luckily The shop can get me in tomorrow morning. Like i said, the sucky thing is even when they finish the job I will have to take it all apart again to paint the caliper.
I had this happen once. I fought with it for about 10 mins then realized I was turning it the wrong way.
I usually just tap on the wrench with a rubber mallet. Also 6 point wrenches work best.
