Just crawled under & took a few pics to see what my damage is. Not as bad as I was thinking, just looks like I need to sand it all down & re-paint.
(posting for those without a facebook.. :P )

Here it looks like whoever undercoated the car forgot the bumper..

The impact bar behind the bumper fascia is common to rust out. Thin steel, not coated with much to protect it. Odds are if you try to do anything to the impact bar, it will probably crumble (it's thin stuff).

As for the filler neck, could use a wire brush and gentle brush the loose debris off and then coat it with POR5. Same with the trailing arms.

I agree the POR5 is a quality rust converter....

anyone know were to find the stuff?
The only products I sell at work is the rustoleum garbage, some jelly stuff & evapo-rust..

my bumpers are way worse lmao

I only know of POR15 being sold at an automotive paint supplier new me (so I would assume paint supply stores near you might sell it). Or you can order it directly from them. I have NEVER seen it in any chain auto parts store.

It's good stuff. Take the time to go to their site and read what they recommend for applying it. You will need POR15 and also a spray product called "Metal Prep" (used for etching the metal so it will soak in the product better).

I have a place nearby I can go to for it...I'll check it out sometime..

Working on the cleanup!

Sanded everything down to as clean as possible, chisled away at all the old paint (still got chunks of it in my hair...) Didn't use any rust reformer but I picked up a can of Rustoleum "rusty metal primer" that says it can be directly sprayed on rust. I got the surface fairly clean so it should hold up. Then proceeded with undercoating!
