The stock rims and tires on my 2004 SS are 235/55R-17. No rubbing so far.

Is the suspension on a Monte that came with the 17" stock a little different? I don't see why it would be though. Maybe he just went a little too wide on the tires. I always saw 225/55 as the recommended when I was looking at 17" rims.

What's your plan of attack?

X2 on 225-55-R17 as recommended for the 17 inch wheels...Hmmm But even 235 is not really that much wider, but maybe Chevy has it close even with the 225...But then again Taz is running that size just fine...

As far a suspension, I don't think tire size has anything to do with it. To the best of my knowledge the only differences in suspension are between V6 models (all have the same suspension) and V8 models (stiffer more sporty suspension)...And some of the V6 models have 17 inch wheels. So I would assume that in earlier models, All models but the SS were the same suspension, with SS Monte's having a slightly stiffer suspension (but earlier models came with 16 inch wheels on the SS)...I really doubt that the suspension is different.

To be honest, i'm kinda puzzled by the situation, because i've seen people take a the 18 inch SS V8 wheels and put them on ealier model V6 Monte's.....and it works! And I believe the 18 inch wheels use a 235 width tire....

Also, isn RocknSS04 (Wayne) using a 235-something-18 on his 04 SS???? And it works for him...Maybe ask him if he did anything special for his rim/ tire combo to work.
