1996 Chevy Monte Carlo SS - Lincoln vs Cadillac

Ive read on several other forums the heavily debated subject on these ss models actually existing......after looking at a fee of the pics I hope these r real

 

I like the body kit its got. I think its aftermarket though. As far as i know the only factory trims on the 5th gen were Ls and Z34

 

yea i hate the front of that kit but the sides and rear is okay

 

On the pics the car looks pretty cool. Random question did anyone else read the rest of the thread and think the Linclon guys were a little high and mighty on themselves? Basically said Montes are for your wives!

Nothing more than a cosmetic package add on to the LS. I think its funny that the lincoln guys are talking smack on the montes. There is a video somewhere on another forum (mymonte I think) of an old tired LQ1 z34 running against one of those Lincoln Mark VIII. They kept neck and neck with the Z34 having a slight edge. Id like to see a good running Z34 kick the crap out of one of those lincolns and Id like to see the face of those lincoln guys when it happens.

the monte has a huge weight advantage, but i doubt that the monte could hang with a modded mark 8. i thought they came with the 4.6 4v. i bet a blower and some gearing would turn that car into a serious monster.

 

Well you can mod anything and make it faster than another stock car. Kind of beside the point there. Stock for stock its kind of hard to talk crap on another car when yours is on the same level. At the end of the day we are talking about a FWD V6 car and a bloated underpowered luxury car. One calling the other slow is like the pot calling the kettle black, lol.

 

A stock Mark VIII would beat a stock Monte of the same year in most situations. That's just how it is, they had close to 300 hp and 300 ft lbs stock, weighing what a hundred pounds, maybe two hundred more than our cars? Their curb weight is 3700.

However, I digress. These guys are right, there are only LS and Z34 5th gen MC's.

 

totally agree. I just found it ridiculous i guess that they were ta;king like that I mean I really dont care for mustangs I think they're overrated and almost everyone has at least 2, around here anyways. My point is I dont sit on the forum and say how much i hate mustangs or how ugly i think they are etc because i respect others cars. I guess I was hoping they'd be the same. To each their own though, nothing about a Mark impresses me if I wanted a bulky car with that type of body style I'd get something like a 98 Riviera.
