Default Transmission slipping

The 4t65e transmission in my monte started slipping today. It slips when I punch it and downshift from second to first. When it downshifts its ok for a little bit but when the rpms climb high it starts to shudder real bad until it shifts back to second. Anyone have a similar problem with their trans? The fluid level is full and the car only has 37000 miles on it. Today was the first time I felt this. I dont really beat on the car alot. No neutral drops, i dont really burn the tires very much just even once in a while. Any suggestions? Fluid and filter change? shift kit? Take it to a mechanic?:-X

she's going... my parents had a tranny rebuilt and it went out after about 45k....was the tranny rebuilt?i don't care how good the mechanic is, when they break, get a rebuilt... after they go out they just never are as good as tehy were before.

i'm just assuming the tranny went out a few years back and was rebuilt, but if you're 5th gen only has that many miles on it.. i do'nt know.

Got some fluid and a filter today. Ill change the fluid tomorrow and see how it works out. I got a bottle of Lucas Stop slip so we'll see if the stuff actually works.

On that Lucas stuff, give it some time. It took about 3 weeks for it to start working in my tranny, but since then it has been great for 9,000 miles and still going strong.

Was your transmission slipping when you put that stuff in? I know it cleared up some sloppy shifts in my old F150 when I put it in butI dont know if it actually works on slipping transmissions.
