Default traction control system

can someone with an 06 or 07 montecarlo ss tell me what difference they see with the traction control when its on and when its off. my car limits wheel spin by stalling the engine with it on or off and im wondering if my traction control needs service, thanx...

Welcome Member: Miortiz to our MCF Family

How many miles on your Monte ? What model do you have ?
Even with your system `off it will over/ride aggressive
driving. It's a characteristic of the system, & GM's way of
protecting your drivetrain.
Electronic's in Control
If you still are under warranty, I suggest having your system checked the next time you go in for service.
Look forward 2 seeing pictures of your Monte, and
your future posts.
Good Luck, Safe Miles

It Just limits rpm if you spin up the the rev limiter i think. Put it in one gear and then spin.

No service needed. It's performing as designed.... Unfortunately.

thanx for the help. this really sucks cause i have a maganflow kit, cortex super chip and a cold air intake kit on my 06 ss, and the rev limiter really slows me down of the line.

is there a way to bypass the rev. limiter to allow wheel spin with the traction control off.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe it may involve some reprogramming of the PCM. Like Space said, GM has put electronics in control of almost everything in the car.

I believe there is a tuner that you can remove the rev limiter. I just don't know enough about programming to give you a good answer.

Go to LS1Tech.com, you'll find a lot more performance oriented information about our LS4 FWD equipped vehicles. Good luck.

my cortex superchip tuner eliminated the rev. limiter i just had to go to the advanced setting options, it also gave it some great extra horse power.
