Tires
i have recenlty bought a set of 19" chromes for my 06 mcss and did not buy tires. today i went a researched some tires for them. the lowest priced set i could get was 1200 bucks. now recently i bought tires for my gmc jimmy [everyday drive] they were only 85 bucks each.
is that not ridiculous. there goes a couple paychecks then another one for fuel at 3.65$ this thing is getin expensive. especially with my repaint project on it. |
RE: Tires
The (stock) tires for a Jimmy are not low profile. For whatever reason, tire companies charge insane amounts for low profile tires. Even though there's less rubber. Go figure.
|
RE: Tires
Go to tirerack.com and check out their tires. They seem to have pretty good prices on pretty much every tire.
|
RE: Tires
Low-Pros are stupid expensive; not to mention that rubber to fit a 19" rim is still not considered "standard". Anytime you put tires on a large rim it will be expensive. Shoot, my '06 Aveo LT I used to have had 185/50/15's on it stock and only two companies made tires for it. So I put 195/60/15's on it, andthey wereGoodyear Eagle LS for almost $700.

RE: Tires
i knew that they would be expensive but thats alot more thatn i thougth jeez.
but they look good! |
RE: Tires
Wow, 1200 for tires, that's as much as the set of wheels and tire combo that I was looking at this past summer would have cost.
I plan on going up to 18's sometime, sure hope they don't end up costing me dearly in the end. I'm curious as to what this repaint project of yours is, have any pictures? |

I could see why they are so much. 35's are much cheaper. http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...remodel=FK-452 |

RE: Tires
My favorite way to post pictures is to host them on imageshack.com, and then copy the direct link to image that they give you and put it inbetween image tags like so:

RE: Tires
Depending on the tire, 1200 is about right.
I got a new pair of GoodYear TripleTreds for $250 off Club GP for my 17"s and they would normally have run me about $600 after shipping and all that. BTW - those TripleTreds are friggin worth it!!! I hit an ice patch with my truck and was all over, took the car over it 15 min later just to test and they grabbed into the ice, it was like having friggin spikes on the tires!! |
RE: Tires
So, when you put different size rims and tires on the 06 MC doesn't it mess up the tire pressure sensor?
|
RE: Tires
Is shouldn't bother the tire sensors any. You still need X amount of pressure in the tire no matter what. Unless you plan on purposely running them at say 20 psi?
And as long as the overall diameter of the 20s plus tires doesn't exceed the diameter of the stock wheels/tires the speedometer will be fine as well. |
