Default Thought my Monte was toast twice tonight

It has rained for the first time today in weeks. Which means road have like a "slime" on them and are a little slick. Well, I was on the way back from my parents house to mine running 50-55 on a river road. Came around a left hand turn just a little into the other lane. Right as I round it I saw another car and my Monte decided it wanted to start sliding out. Mind you the car is coming towards me and the is a guard rail straight ahead. And remember that my Monte does NOT have ABS/TCS. I get it corrected enough to pass the other car cleanly, but the rear is still sliding out. I then see another car coming towards me. I start working the brake/throttle/steering. Wasn't the prettiest, but I straighten it out and quit sliding and pass the other car.

I then I get on another road with multiple blind corners. I come around a right hand turn and there is a truck sideways in the middle of the road and people standing there. Hit the brake and they decide to lock and I lose steering. I begin feathering the brake, but the HAWK pads just kept wanting to bite. So I gave up on the brakes and decided to get back on the gas and go around them.

My heart is still pounding.

1st corner

2nd corner

A lot of close calls but im glad your ok! Where are you from? My Monte is horrible in the rain also. My abs and traction control arent working on my Monte either . My right side has a tendency to always lock up when its wet and you feel it sliding and pulling lol. Its worse on the interstate driving next to 18 wheelers, while driving in a straight line the wind from the 18 wheeler pushes my Monte and makes it go onto the side of the road all while my front end barely grabs the pavement. What kind of tires do you have? Im kinda guessing that some bad wheel hubs/bearings have eaten up your treads? :p

My Monte didn't come equipped with ABS. I have Pirelli P4 tires on it. Well over 8/32" tread. It was just because of the lack of rain made the road slick.

They had 04 montes that didn't come with ABS stock? That really surprises me- I honestly didn't know that.

If you lose traction dont hit the brakes. let of gas, turn wheel way you want to go, then ease on the gas lightly. The front wheels will pull you where you want to be.

I didnt know they made cars without ABS. I thought everything had after like 1992 had it. Also it sounds like you were driving too fast for conditions. lately there have been a lot of roads that are hot and slick. I just take them slow

My 2012 Kia Forte doesn't have ABS. All the other cars I have do. On my ex-truck I wish it didn't - it was nothing but a PITA.
