I've driven an '06 LT2 & LT3 with the 3.5 engines under the hood.

I also test drove an '06 SS. Man that car would get me into trouble with the cops.

I really like my 3.9 '06 LTZ. The car has nice pickup, got pretty good mileage to/from the Montes @ MISevent in Michigan back in april. For some reason though it got worse mileage then my carborated '86 LS Monte going to/from the Monte Nationals in Cinci at the end of june? Maybe it was the driver?

The '00-05 Montes are really nice cars that I've liked since the '00 came out. When we rented an '06 to travel to the Monte Nats in Nashville last year it sold me on the car. I wanted to own one really bad. So my local Chevy dealer located a couple for me at were slightly used. My LTZ was $10k less then a new car.

I LUV my Intimidator! I have 52,000 miles on it now. I bought it last February on Ebay for half price with only 4700miles on it. Milage at 25.3 is actually better than my '01, which got 24.5mpg. I had two '01 Impalas before these,. They got slightly better milage at 26mpg, but I totalled them both. The first I got left turned into at 80 on I-94, and the second I bounced off a LARGE tree into a tele' pole. Walked away from both. I feel SAFE in these cars! Did I say that I LUV my Intimidator? The '01 w/3.8 NA was a nice car, handled great, and all that, but I really wanted the 3.8 SC!
These are the best winter driving cars I've ever driven, and at 53 and living in lake effect snow from Lake Michigan, I've driven in snow. I'll take this tail-draggin' car over ANY SUV or pickup out there.
By the way, my wife drives a '99 Silverado Z71 shorty sportside. She is an adult protective services worker. This is her go anywhere, get anybody outa anyplace at anytime vehicle. I just drive back n forth to work 100+miles every day. I'll take my comfortable car with heated leather seats and BIG stereo, thank you.
