Default Tell me more!

Ok so since I fell in love with my 97 Z34, I've been iching for some intimate details on its make and trims history. I'm haven't been quite a car guy until my grandpa got me my first Monte earlier this year.
I'm a newbie to all things Monte, and most things cars.

Is there anywhere for me to gather statistics or browse mods for 5th gen and other montecarlos like mine?

Common or notable issues throughout the generation on the z34.
Common popular exterior and interior mods and where to find them.
Information you think is important, interesting, and relevant.

On lq1s timing changes are a must. Flip dogbones. You can fix the console lid with a gp hinge. Guess youll have to be a bit more specific. . I love my 97.

For mods i'd say there really isn't alot off the shelf. You have to get more creative with a 5th gen.

Z34 montes were typically loaded with options, plus they had rear disc brakes starting in '96 I believe, along with a slightly better suspension than regular LS monte carlos.

some of the most desirable 5th gen monte carlos would probibly be 1998-1999 Z34's due to GM changing over to using the same 3800 v6 found in 6th gen montes and many other GM cars, which has a much larger performance market available to it.

another rare "option" found on some 5th gen monte carlos was the dealer-prepped "SS" ground effects package... my dad bought one about a year after I got my monte, and I've never seen another in person

Gen 2 struts, lat links, spindles, brakes fit the rear perfectly. Change outter rod ends and you can use a gen 2 rack. Have a 13.2:1 ratio regal rack in mine.

Any guides on flipping the dogbone for a 5th gen? Not sure I want the extra road sensetivity due to the sensetivity from my tires, but w/e. Will flipping the dogbone reduce or increase the wear on my vehicle, assuming I drive like every other joe?

You think I should be swappin for Gen 2 parts?

@skylark
Duuuuude. Haha, I love that ground effects kit Ive been looking at some hoods and ground effects kits ;P

lol thanks man, I loved it too, not as gaudy as some of 'em can be. I wanted to keep the pieces for my red car but once I had the black one home I realized every piece had some kind of damage to it... oh well.

another thing interesting with 5th gens, Z34's have their own unique front bumper, with a larger, more stylized lower grille opening. they also lack the LS's ugly *** chrome hood strip, which GM felt the need to use dang near 10 studs into the hood to mount. so for an LS guy like me to get rid of that chrome piece eather requires filling the holes & paint or an entire new Z34 hood ( or do like I did and drive into / under an F350, tearing the chrome piece off then hide the damage with a hood visor, hahaha )
