great to know, It was just a wondering question, I never changed the oil in my 03 GT or my Camaro after letting them sit for the winter and never noticed a problem, but I never owned them long enough to notice i guess. Thanks for clearing that up my problem is mine will be put in a storage shed which is a tight fit, so when taking it out how to I get it out without starting it to change the oil? should I put it in nuetral and push it out?

Steel wool will keep the rodents out. It seems like plastic bags would promote moisture. I have heard of people putting oil dry on the concrete floor to absorb moisture.

If you remove the battery don't put it on a concrete floor. Buy a Battery Tender and hook it to the battery. They are worth their weight in gold for keeping a battery alive on stored vehicles. My Monte, Grand Prix and the three bikes I seldom ride all have one. You will never have to worry about the battery with one of those hooked up.

 

What I did for the Deuce..(she is in a grage)

Fill the gas Tank FULL, Put STA-BIL in the tank (follow instructions)
jack up off the wheels and place on jack stands & remove wheels
Put battery on trickle charger (tendor)
Make sure she is clean and waxed
Place rags in the Exhast tips to keep critters out.

I just put mobile 1 in her so she should be good till next fall

 

X2 on not setting the battery on concrete, if you've got nowhere else to store it, but a 2x4 or something under it.

mine is finished it's driving season today, 3/4 tank of gas, oil changed last week..not a heated garage but i lay tar paper under the car over the concrete because around here the floor will sweat sometimes if a garage door is open depending on the weather conditions...i keep a dehumidifier in the garage if i see the floor aor sides of the cars sweat a bit I'll run it for awhile and i load it up with Bounce sheets since rodents tend to despise those fabric sheets and you never get a damp smell...always use them in the rv....and place pieces of outdoor carpet under the wheels

 

I would just add that once you've got it in storage, don't be tempted to go out there and start it up for a while to circulate fluids or whatever - I think that unless you're bringing all the fluids up to operating temperature, you're probably doing more harm than good. We've all seen the condensation that comes out the exhaust during warmup - well, if you shut down the car before the car is at full operating temp, that condensation will remain in your engine and exhust - not good.
