Its something people don't usually think about but the other day when I went for a long trip in my 02 MC SS I thought what about the condition of my spare tire, yes it has 60 psi of air in it and never been used but I am not sure I want to drive on a 23 year old tire, especially a donut tire. I didn't want to take up trunk room with a full size spare either. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a replacement spare tire for it, but Walmart had one. I tried the local shops and they said due to liability reasons they would not replace tires on a spare. Walmart only charge me a for a new valve stem and tire disposal fee $5 plus the cost of the tire. I figured I would have had to pay for a mounting charge.
A tire shop, not willing to change a spare tire for liability reasons? That seems like an odd statement. I must be missing something, it's a donut spare, but it's still a rim and a tire.
Salvage yard would have that I see them alot. I carry a full size spare in mine.
About 10 years ago this little car passed me on the interstate he had 4 of them little donuts tires on it I was doing better than 75 when he went around me. haha
