Default Some recent repairs on my '98 Monte Carlo.

I have done some new repairs on my Monte, so I thought I might share them!

First off, I scored on eBay, a PAIR of BRAND NEW headlights, in the box, with new bulbs, for $63 - free shipping. My current ones are yellowed, dingy, and crackly.. I've tried to rub them out. It didn't work!

Old

Right up close

New right one! ^_^

Left side

Left side up close - not quite as bad as the right

New left light ^_^

Arent they pretty?

Here are some junkyard scores I got.

First, I got a new seat bottom for my driver's seat. But, I got it from a passenger seat for it has less wear in the leather and more firmness in the foam.

Old one

New one!

New one on the seat

After a LOT of scrubbing with Simple Green, and three heavy lathers of Mother's Leather Conditioner.

Back in the car - feels like a brand new seat again!

Picked up some new lower door jamb moldings

And a new defrost vent. Half of the tabs on my old one were broken off.

Lookin good Kyle.

It's little things like that, that really make you feel more pride in your ride!
Old, yellowed headlights really ruin the look of a car. The new one's look so much better, and throw more light onto the road.

I can't wait to get them on. Hopefully this weekend(pics will follow!), if we get a break in the weather. They're going to really set off the car nicely. I'm going to start looking for a nice hood the same color as mine in the salvage yard. I can't open mine without getting rusty fingers, or close it without chunks falling.

Yuck

You're right, it's the little things that matter. Yesterday was actually two years since I got this car, and it looks totally different. Here are a couple comparison shots from the day after I got it, to my most recent pics taken last summer.

These two were taken one year ago today, on May 26, 2009

Taken July 29, 2010

Just goes to show what "little things" can do to a car

I've had a lot of fun with this car the past two years. Countless junkyard runs, which I LOVE doing. Many hours doing repairs and detailing to get her up to par.

Thanks! My thoughts exactly! It "POPS" more too, than if it were the same color, since they are so small.

Try to save the moulding on the front edge of the hood. I've heard they're hard to find. If not impossible.

I would actually like to find a Lumina or MC Z34 hood w/o the molding.

So it would look more like this:
