I had the oil changed in the Deuce Nov 1st last year just days before I put her in storage. I plan to take her out of storage the end of April. I used mobil 1 synthetic oil.

Should I have her oil changed again when I take her out of storage the end of April?


The Deuce has 74,000 mile on her. I am removing the rear valve cover assembly for some mods. At this pointI am thinking the rear plugs should be eaiser to get to.

At 74K should the plugs and plug wires be replaced?

You really don't have to change the oil, has it been run at all since it's been put in storage? I have heard stories of Mobil 1 getting 'gummy' so i'm not sure if that would happen because of storage.

100k is probably a good rule of thumb for plugs and wires unless they start acting up before then, but i say hey why not, you're already back there, might as well upgrade or replace because it's a pain to get behind the engine, it will be easier if you have the valve covers off

 

If the vehicle was stored in an area with high humidity there's a chance that condensation formed in the crankcase. It might be cheap insurance to change the oil even though it's not that old.

Yep, GM recommends replacing the plugs and checking the wires at 100,000 miles, but since you have easier access to them now may as well do it.

Well, it looks like my links aren't working, but for plugs I'd use AC Delco and for wires I'd use Belden Premium.

 

For ignition I always recommend just replacing with STOCK replacements.

Change your oil. It wasn't that smart to change it right before storage because before you start the car in the spring you have to drain that oil :p

I know synthetic isn't cheap, but you gotta do it lol

 

if it were me, i'd change oil and call it good on the plugs. If you've only put on 74000 miles since 06, that's about 12000 a year, which gives you 2 GOOD years until 100,000 miles when it's suggested to replace them anyways. Then again, spark plugs aren't exactly expensive . . . . you're call i guess

 

Tadd If its in a heated garage. The oil is fine. If not change it. IF your going to change the plugs. Stock ones got you this far right ? Go with the book says. Sounds like either your bored & looking for something to do ...I have less miles on my 06 SS and I changed oil a month before she went to sleep for the winter. I'll change it again when I get back. You can always put a better oil fitler on it when you change the oil. Hope all this info from everyone helps.

 

I changed my oil when I took Black Licorice out of storage with mobile 1 syn. Good idea to do.
not sure about plugs/wires, (50K on mine) but sounds like you might as well do it
