......I just use my Photoshop ( elements 6 ) and start creating..
It's kinda fun. The only real trick is to scale it down small
enough to fit on these threads. My signature could probably
be scaled down even a bit more ?

You can also try paint.net for a freeware program. I'm told it's comparable to photoshop.
