Might be the car BEFORE the engine is in place... Panel says it weighs 1680lbs. but all of the internet literature says around 2,606lbs. Even at 2600lbs, it's a super light car, when you close/slam the doors, you think they're going to fall right off. The Lotus Exige weighs only 1200lbs and has a Toyota Corolla engine with a supercharger!

Did the exige replace the elise or something? I used to hear about the elise and the esprit all the time and now I am hearing about the exige more than the elise. I dont even see any elises around anymore. There used to be a nice silver one running around and a nice bright orange esprit in the same area. Pretty neat cars.

I already commented about the Civic in the other cars thread, but I think I'm going to sound like a jerk again here too. The Exige S240's curb weight is 2062 lbs. The S260's is 1962 lbs. Regardless, the Civic and Exige are both lightweight cars so I do understand what you're saying. My Monte's curb weight is a little over 3300 lbs stock and is a little under 3500 lbs with me in it (now modified, I'm not fat, lol).

I don't really know the point of the Exige though because it seems that the Exige and Elise are being produced side by side and their performance is similar to each other. Both are really cool cars though. I'd drive one

The Exige, Elise and now Elan are all in production...again, yes, very lightweight compared to our U.S. daily driving cars. I recently saw an Orange Exige and WOW! It's like a grown-ups go cart with a 4 cylinder! NICE looking and reasonably priced if you can get a used one. But they are NO WHERE near practical for anything except fun, speed and awesome handling.

The exige is a s/c elise in not so many words. The engine in them is actually a 5sfe from the toyota camry.
the corolla, tercel, and older celica came with a 3sfe. Basically the same engine, but smaller in size.
My new favorite lotus is the evora

just saw that at mcdonalds... he just bought it for 50k

(1.6l instead of the 2.2l)

Aren't Lotus' available with a 2zz with VVTI-L which was available in the Toyota Celica and is ALSO available in the Toyota Corolla XRS... Exige was s/c and Elise was N/A... I haven't read much on the Elans and the new Lotus' that are in production... just seen the pics.

I covered em, I dont have a sewing machine and got tired of the ugly tan on my black, so I did this. Not the best but I think its ok for a 18 yr old boy trying to sew for the first time
