Default should i get an 06 ss?

i love my 01 ls but im looking for something a little newer and faster. i have ben looking into an 06 - 07 ss but after reading a few reviews its been a little discouraging. there seems to be a lot of people having problems with the transmission. is there anyone who has an 06 - 07 ss that could give me advice?

Default wait a bit......

The 06's are great cars but you may want to wait a bit because of the gas prices ? But overall, be patient with yourself.

gas prices are getting pretty steep right now, but if you want an SS, I say go for it and get an extended warranty on it!

I think the tranny issues tend to manifest due to lack of maintenance and a heavy foot with the V-8's. Tough to make a front wheel drive car with a superior tranny, gears put to much pressure on the thin walled casing when your always on the pedal wide open. take it reasonably easy and keep the fluid changed and I bet they will be very reliable.

The newer SS has the same 4t65e transmission that you have now. It's pretty much maxed out at 300HP and the life is poor if you have bad luck with the transmission.

That's the reasons behind the stories you hear. Some are lucky, some aren't.

lol. correct. theyre not exactly the same. the hd has hardened parts that to my knowledge werent failure prone to begin with. i think the trans failure is kind of a luck of a draw thing. there are guys that beat there cars day and night without failure and then there are guys that baby it and the trans goes. i would say if you want one go for it. city mileage is bad, but what do you expect. iss is an issue, but you already had a monte so you know that, power steering recall, and tranny. other than that its pretty good. definitely extend the warranty.
