Does it have a spoiler?
Does it have fog lights?

You could have an SS shell, previous guy probably blew up the 3.8 motor and swapped out an LS motor .. only GOD knows why? ... maybe to save some cents.
Did he provide paper work? On anything being done on the car before?
Did he tell you it had a rebuilt title before the purchase?

Can you post your Monte's VIN? That would clear up everything right there.

Unless I missed it, you are not stating why you think the car is unreliable, has it quit on you or running bad? Another thing, you should worry about the mechanics first then the wheels unless it needs tires anyways. For that price its good even if it was a rebuild. Take it to a trusty mechanic and have it checked out for hidden damage, then make a decision as to sell or not. If its all good underneath and runs good, why worry??? Any car can break down at any time. No such thing as a sure thing.

Okay, according to your VIN you have an LS not an SS. That would explain why you have the 3400 in it. Whoever told you it was an SS was mistaken.
