I was browsing Craigslist last night looking for a Nascar style spoiler like I have been doing periodically for the last 3+ years to replace the surboard on my 01 SS. I came across a guy with an ad up selling a trunk+spoiler off a pace car and figured he would want way too much, as they always do, but I gave him a call. Turns out, he was only asking 75 bucks! I was shocked. Luckily I had the day off from work today, so I made the hour drive out there to go check it out. He had a pace car he was parting out due to an engine fire. Trunk was in good shape, few scratches, but I am going to have to get it painted black anways since the car was red, so I scooped it up for 75! I was thrilled. Here it is right after I washed it up:
The car was really picked over, but he asked if there was anything else I would like off of it. I looked inside to see it had the nice red/black 2 tone leather seats, but the car had been left outside with no windows/sunroof for a few months, so it was pretty beat. Then I noticed that it had the Bowtie embroidered headrests, which I have also been looking for forever. I said to him "Damn, if those were in better shape I would have bought them instantly" to wich he replied "They might clean up, who knows. If you want them, take them, no charge" so naturally I took them. I just got through cleaning and re-conditioning them, and they cleaned up great!!!!
So, it was a good day for my Monte. I scored 2 hard to find items for a mere $75!!!! Anyways, thats my story. I had to share it with someone who would appreciate it hahahha.

Thanks guys, it's nice to get a break every now and then. Especially since my daily driver (my jeep) has been nickel and diming me quite a bit lately.
I have gotten a few messages so far about the pace car badge. Hard to see in the picture, but this one is just starting to peel a little around the edges as well. I will take some high-resolution pics of the badge and email them to those who have expressed interest thus far. I know they are hard to come by, and it would be nice for it to find a good home.
