Within the next couple of weeks I am retiring my Monte Carlo from daily driver duties. She's been punished for almost 10 years as a daily driver and its starting to take its toll. I will be placing her in storage where she will await her long deserved restoration.

Two weeks ago I bought a 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix LE to be my new daily driver. I scored big on this car, eventhough it does have some issues. It came fully loaded with: 305 V8, 200-4R transmission, bucket seats, floor console with shifter, rally gauges with tach, AM/FM/Cassette stereo with power antenna, power windows, power door locks, power seats, dual remote sport mirrors, cruise control, rear window defogger, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel and 14-inch turbine wheels. The body is straight and free of rust, it still has a decent two-tone gray paint job. The interior is what needs attention. While it isn't too bad, it does need a severe detailing and cleaning along with new headliner. After sitting for 9 months, it started right up and didn't sputter, knock or ping. It shifts great and rides quiet and smooth. The price? $890.

 

sounds like an awsome deal all around, thats cool you got the geepee for that kinda money! there was an '86 GP for sale around here that was in decent shape with fresh paint for $600, but it was a v6 car with no options. oh, and they ALL need headliners, haha. enjoy the new ride, and make sure to keep us updated with the resto of the '76!

 

That Grand Prix is begging for a Pontiac 350 wideblock. Or better yet, a 455, talk about sleeper.

 

I'd love to put a Pontiac 400 or 455 in it, but my budget is gonna constrict me to doing the normal 350 swap in a couple years. I'm actually wanting to put a Grand National powertrain in it because I have yet to see or hear of one that has that done.

 

 

well i wish i could get a deal like that i always liked that type of body style it shared the same body as the monte and the buick regal of that gen except for some minor exterior changes like the rear lights and badging
