Question Rearends

Did and of the 4th gen Montes come with a posi from the factory or did they all come with the crappy gears?

some of them came with POSI yes.

If you look at the RPO code and see G80 that has POSI.

I believe this only applies to 84+

Where abouts is this RPO code? I think it is somewhere in the VIN but where?

Usually on a sticker in the glovebox or the underside of the trunk lid. My bet would be in the glove box.

No , you could order a posi on any model. Was an option on the ss as well. 83-84 ss has 3.42 and the 85-88 had 3.73's.

neither it's the gearin 3.42's are more like a highway gear 3.72 is more of a acceleration gear if your looking at rear ends they usually come with 7.5 in 10 bolt rearend a better one is the 8.5 in
