Default rear service additive required?

Hello Monte SS family,
I still have my 86 Monte Carlo SS bought new in 86.
I have a question about a rear service.
Some say rear end is limited slip and I need the differential oil additive when changing out the oil, some say I don't.
Think I trust this Monte SS family for the real answer!
GM did a service on it many years ago, but I don't recall if it was added.
Thanks!
Mike.

Usually if it has a posi (limited slip) it came with a small tag attached to the diff cover. Best bet is to remove the cover and do a visual inspection and see if it has a posi or not. If equipped you should add one bottle of posi lube to the fluid.

Look at the RPO decal which is under the trunk lid. If you have G80 as one of the rpo codes then you have limited slip.Ive owned more than my share of the mid 80s monte carlo's and its a coin toss as to which had G80 and ones that did not. My 86 Aerocoupe does not
