Default Rear Defrost / Radio Interference

So I have this really weird, random problem that started this winter. I'm gonna say around November when the rear defrost was needed again here in Illinois.

When I have the radio on and turn the rear defrost on, it completely disrupts my radio feed. I get nothing but static on just about every station that otherwise comes in crystal clear and goes away once I turn defrosters off. I have an '06 3LT, so I've got the OnStar setup.

Why in the world would this suddenly start happening and has anyone else ever had this problem? It's of course annoying but seems really random to me.

Why do I remember another member having this exact same problem before?

Try searching around a bit, you might find something similar to your issue. I remember seeing this before.

This is a REAL problem with not only the Monte Carlo, but others as well. Did you just get the car this year? Did it happen last winter?
What's going on is your rear window defroster is shorted out with antenna in the rear window also. I had one replaced in this car, and one in an '01 Impala. They replaced the entire window. I honestly don't even understand how it can work like it does anyway, but if you have a good window, it should work.
That's why I asked if you just got it this year, as from my experience, they don't just go bad, but they are defective from the start.
I haven't heard of anyone repairing one, and if you ask a glass shop, they will say to replace it, cuz that's what they do, just like if you take your car to AAMCO and ask them if your transmission needs work, they'll tell you it needs to be rebuilt, cuz that's what they do.
Anyone else have any suggestions other than replacing the window?
