Default tHE RACE WAS CLOSER.....

I'm here to tell ya, I gain a lot of respect today for the little Cobalt SS. One of the guys at work brother showed up in his Cobalt SS. After taking a few of the guys for a ride, they came in and told me his car was faster than mine. OK... let's go see this little s#&t... I look it over and the kid is burning the tires in first and second gear (manual trans). So everybody starts egging me on, so I cave and go get my car. We wheel out onto the street and the little is already moving, so I assumed he wanted to go from a roll. He's about two car lengths ahead of me, so I nail it and watch his rear end dig down too. I flew pass him in a blink and we get to the end of the street and turn around he pulls up next to me and this time we are going from a dead start.

Well, I figured I went pass him the first time so fast that I would give a little bit of a head start. So he said go, I give a car length before I nail it. BIG MISTAKE! That little thing pulled 2-cars easy in first gear, and another half-car (2-1/2 total) in second, it wasn't until he shifted into third gear that the Monte pulled along side and after that, it was all the Monte. But that little car eat my asre out of the hole!!!

All the guys at the dealership were laughing there butts off at how he got me out of the hole, and then the expression on the kid's face as I flew pass him.The kid said it sounded like a funny car flyingby him... I wish! But, The Black Attack sounds GREAT at WOT

All in all, Iwould own a Cobalt SS, that is one little bad to the bone car!

I agree, those little Supercharged Ecotec engines put out alot of power for as tiny as they are...

Congrats on the win, though!

Those little things are fast, before I bought my car I was thinking aboutgetting one. But decided to get a car with more room and nicer riding. My friends brother has one and they do surprize most cars. But can't beat the sound and power of a V8 in a longer run.

A security supervisor at the casino where I workowns a new Cobalt SS, and she knows how to drive. I've teased her about the ricer-like spoiler, and have challenged her more than once to runagainst the big dog with an American spoiler. So far, she has respectfully refused...maybe I should leave well-enough alone.

That's all it is. A horsepower to weight ratio.

Lighten up the Monte to weigh the same and watch the Cobalt loose every time.

Speaking of curb weight, it is interesting to note that an 07 MC SS (3490#) weighs only 7 pounds more than an 07 Mustang GT Premium Coupe (3483#). I discovered that little tidbit while I was researching the Monte prior to buying, and was somewhat surprised by this since the MC is quite a bit larger than the Stang.
