No weekends???? No Time Off???? I hope your getting paid really good...

My experience has been, don't buy cheap car mods off ebay. I've not heard of Proboost and did a quick Google search with no results... Ugh....

I programmed chip basically changes settings of your PCM (powertrain control module) to gain HP, run more effieciently, change transmission settings and on and on..

I bought one just to try it out and it sucked *** (it wasnt proboost btw). I felt a difference but I wouldnt really use it unless I had an Intake and Exhaust while running high octane gas, thats just my opinion.

well i do have a new exhaust system and k&n filter, not really an intake but still adds some power. it makes me feel better that at least you felt a lil difference, im just anxious to try it out. dont worry ill let you guys know how it turns out when i get it. by the way if you can help me out here, i got into a lil debate with a friend who drives a 98 civic ex and he says its runnin a lil funny. we checked it out and everything was grand until i found out he uses premieum gas for his car. i tried to tell him that his engine is working harder to break down the gas and thats probably the problem, hell man i have a V6 and i still use regular!! My question is... does it matter what kind of gas u use, or do u have to stick with what you car could handle, cuz he swears it gives his civic more power.

I'm interested in seeing other people's opinions to this question on premium gas. I just bought my 04 Monte SS and the gas tank specifically says, "Use Premium Gas Only" so of course I do. But in the first 5 days I've had the car, I've put $80 of gas in it (and I haven't gone anywhere out of the ordinary)! If I didn't have to use premium, maybe I'd save, well.... a dollar or two per week! But I don't want to ruin my new baby! Being a woman, I'm pretty ignorant on the subject of car care. I know, not all women are ignorant on the subject but I am and I'll be the first to admit it! That's why I'm so glad I found this forum... I've learned a lot already! (Condition my leather seats? I would have never even thought of that!)

Welcome to the board.

At first I was wondering "where's the question" but then I see batman actually asked it. Premium gas should only be used when specified. If you car doesn't specify to use premium, doing so will only increase performance due to the weight reduction effect it'll have on your wallet.

Oh boy, here we go again.... You seriously don't want to get into this one again... How short our memories seem to be.

Premium vs Regular......... Is it worth the added cost???

Let's look at the added cost and you be the judge.

Hypertech claims a 19HP gain using the Premium program, let's take current prices right now @ regular being $2.79 putting premium @ $2.99. Average fill cost @ 15 gallons is $41.85 for reg and $44.85 for super. I fill my tank once per week which puts my cost annually around $2,176.20 Reg and $2,332.20, the diff is only $156 per year or $8.21 per added HP per year.

add in the cost of the HyperTech programmer(since he didn't say he had one) and the total cost difference is $556, or $29.26 per hp.
