Pulley Puller

Pulley Puller
So, I decided to purchase the ZZ Performance Puller, as the rest of the junk I have seen around looks like it wouldn't make it past a few pulls...
Anyone have any tips for pulling these pulleys?

RE: Pulley Puller
Hi Keegan,
I don't think thatyou will have to purchase a puller.
If you have a DIY auto parts store anywhere near, such as Checker, Schuks, Kragen, Auto Zone or Pep Boys, they should have the tool that you can rent or borrow, and youshould be able to remove it for you in just a few minutes.
I'm sure there has to be some speed shops in PA.
I would waituntil you get back home,& check around before you invest.
I'd use that money for other mod's /tools.
I don't think a pulley puller gets used that much.
Once you install your new pulley, then you will be set to go.
I'm sure other member's that have done this will post.
(Like 04Intimidator) I'm sure that he has pulled his pulley : )
I did it on my Honda Vetec, but I borrowed a pulley from autozone.
Good Luck, Peace Out,

RE: Pulley Puller
well, I purchased the pulley puller with the intent to be using it a good bit...
You need to take the hub off in order to machine down the snout, and if all goes well, I will be pulling this new one off within a few months to put on a Gen 5 Blower, and then once i get that down below a 2.8 down the road, I will need to pull it off again to machine THAT snout down... along with maintenance that you need to pull the pulley off for.. So I figured rather than mess with trying to find a place that has it, and do it, and return it, or pay to rent it for 40 bucks a pop, I'd just pay the 99 bucks get a brand new one...
That was kinda my reasoning...

Hi Keegan,
Good decision - Good Thinking
You sure are doing your homework. I look forward to you getting back to the states, and
look forward to your future progress reports/post on all your `Mod's.
Sounds like a fun project, that should net you a very super/super fast
SuperCharged Monte Carlo SS.
Sure hope that you take lots of photo's to post/share with the members.
Good Luck & the best to you,

RE: Pulley Puller
I just used the one from PFYC and it worked great. They all come with instructions and are pretty self explanitory.
I think once I get a modular pulley system for my GenV I'll be selling mine.

RE: Pulley Puller
I put my 3.4" pulley on yesterday, finally. The hard part was clearing the way. Ended up pulling the strut brace, battery, and of course the fuse box. The extra wiring I got there because of the stereo and second battery didn't help. The swap was a piece of cake! The new unit went on smooth. Only real problem I had other than dropping the + battery bolt and not having it hit the floor, was pulling the plug from the s/c shaft. It actually unscrews, and I didn't realize that, and made a mess of mine, but it went back in. Not perfect, but OK.
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, and make sure the front and back plates are parallel when pulling the old pulley. Use plenty of anti-sieze.
Mine pulls almost 10# of boost now! Kinda wish I had a 3.2 instead, but let's see where this is at first. Hoping to make it to ZZP this Friday afternoon for a computer reprogram and hopefully a chassis dyno tune. I need to get my mpg's back. 25.5 mpg before the pulley, 72mm throttle body, and 3/4" spacer. Only getting 24 mpg now.
Glad you are getting home soon.
