Open for suggetions
i recntly ordered a extra engine cover and new strut tower support bars for my car. i want to do a new paint job on them and i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for me.
i was thinking about doing the oppisite of the colors that i have now. I would paint the main part of the engine cover black and have the lettering red and the intake runner grooves red also. what do you think?
then for the bars i was thining about painting them black and do some red pin stripping on them and maybe paint a red SS in the middle of all 3. What do you think?
Also any other suggestions you might have.

I think the opposite colors would look better.
Gloss black to match your body color with red as an accent color.
Adding an "SS" in red the same as the SS lettering outside the car would probably go best in the area underneath the "V6".
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the engine cover cost you?

i think i figured out what i am going to do. I am going to paint the engine cover gloss black and the writing red and the intake runner things red and then go around the out side of the cover on the top edge and do a red pin stripe all the way around.
What do you think of this idea?

I think that would be a good idea. If I may suggest tho, Im not a fan of the red shroud up front. I think when you are painting your engine cover, you should paint it gloss black.

this is what i would do
high gloss black engine cover with red accents (like you said), think that would look great
as for the bars i would paint them high gloss black and get stickers made in red that say monte carlo SS and put them on them, i think that would look good and clean
paint that thing in the front black again too, gloss black to match the car

I agree that the plastic thing up front should be returned to black. I would go with the same black your doing your engine cover. Right now that shroud sticks out like a sore thumb, because it's not the same red as your bars.
If you want to dress up the engine to show it off, maybe look into other ideas. Like changing your spark plug wires to red wires. Or if you really want to go all out, start changing out your plug wires, hoses and lines to the braided stuff. Maybe install a chromed alternator, water pump, etc.
And as long as you're starting to paint pieces of your engine bay gloss black to match the exterior color...
There are a number of areasunder the hood that are painted flat black. Like frame sections, strut towers, etc. Paint those gloss black as well. It would really help in getting the engine bay looking like it's supposed to be seen, and not just an ugly functional areafor the mechanic to see only.
