"numbers matching" question

"numbers matching" question

I understand that "numbers matching" means that the car still has original engine, trans, and other parts. but where are the numbers located on each part and how do they correlate to each other?

On newer cars you'll find a sticker with a barcode and the car's VIN number on parts.
