new pics of my monte
I have used it but I thought it was a pain in the butt. I just make sure not to wash my car in the direct sun or if I do I dry it off right away. I know it's easier said than done. That's why I couldn't stand to have a black car as my every day car.
i realized that after i waxed it, and the water beaded, once it dried it didn't leave water stains. yay! but of course it's filthy again. if it ever stops raining i'll quick wax it again. hoping for good weather this weekend so i can clay bar it. how often should that be done? when i got it back from the body shop they had cleaned it like i've never seen it, i doubt they clay barred it but it was cleaner than when i got it from the dealership. i just don't want to overdo it.
Just feel the paint. If it feels grainy and not smooth after you wash and dry it, it needs to be clay barred again. It also depends on the conditions. If your car stays outside a lot it will pick up tree sap and other impurities floating around in the air. If that is the case you should clay bar it more often. You can't over do it. But, if you clay bar it you are basically stripping the wax off so be prepared to wax your car again. I usually do it in early spring and late summer for my daily driver - less often with my show car (maybe once a year before car show season).
got it. it's outside all the time, i don't have room in my garage, and always exposed to the elements. it's been so wet recently that i haven't been able to really get a good feel on the paint. if it's nice out this weekend i'll assess it and might clay bar an area to see if there is a big difference. either way i'll definitely be waxing it again. thanks for the tip!
In the spring-time I usually give it a good clay-barring and a nice coat of wax to get all of the "winter" off my car. Then I just give it a wax every 2 months, and a spray detailer each month in between. Then before winter I give it a very very thorough cleaning, contaminant spray, and a coat of wax. And I try to give a good wax in a garage in the middle of winter, but that's often hard to do.
