Hi `Jake & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family...
Congrat's on your graduation & you sure got a awesome gift of a 4th Gen Monte Carlo S.S.
I like your plans, and I like the "350" c.i. with a mild cam
Did you take auto mechanic's in school ? Do you have the tools to do the job ? Do you have help ?
Please keep us updated on your progress + updated pic's are always a plus on the MCF...(We all love pic's of Monte's)
We have several helpful member's here, so don't be afraid to post & ask questions..
Wish you good luck on getting your Monte the way you want it to `be...Will be looking forward to your updates

Welcome! Looks like a great project. You can pick up mild 350 4-bolt mains on CL pretty cheap. A LOT more support for a 350 out there than a 305.

Of course as you can see:
If you check out my garage....Im kinda partial to black..lol...
I would paint it black with the silver raceing stripes downthe length of it...
and then paint the lower trim(ground effects) the same silver as the stripes...
But hey thats just me...A real eye catcher for sure!
Especially on that year and body Style!
along with a Billet grille....
Since its a 1986:
The saying goes: You will "86" em all!
Its a slang for "Killn" them off 1 by 1.
