Need help with verifying originality of 78 Monte Carlo 4-speed
Hey all. My name is Jess and like the title says I need some help verifying authenticity of a 1978 monte. It has the factory 4-speed in it, and while I'm 90% sure its the real deal I want to make sure before I pull the trigger. It has everything that would point to the 4 speed, factory bucket seats, factory linkage and everything. All I could get from the vin was the engine denomination which does tell me that it came with the 305. I have the serial number (I believe) for the transmission, if that helps at all.

Thanks for the reply, Jason. Turns out the serial number I got was for the bellhousing, not the transmission itself, lol. Looking around and what I've been able to find though makes it look good that I have indeed found the real deal

You could contact a dealer and or GM directly and give them the vin...
They will definitely be able to tell you one way or the other too.
all Chevy 4 speeds had a Muncie transmission.
