My first monte carlo ss and have some questions!!!!
Hello everyone,
I recently just bought a 1987 Monte carlo ss, has 79k and got it from the original owners son has been sitting for 7 years. Its pretty much stock has a cowl hood and a exhaust thats about it. ok here is my question the car is odd to me its a true ss but has a bench seat,ac and posi BUT no power locks,windows,t-tops ect,the car was never messed with because i found the build sheet and all numbers match but im never seen one like it,should i put the stock hood on also the car has it oem paint i was thinking on getting it painted the same white "because the clear came off but got it puffed pretty good"just doesn't have that bright shine
just would like your input on the car

In my opinion:
If it aint broke dont fix it!
It looks good...leave the hood on it. why would you like to change it? Granted OEM matching stuff up is a good thing...But unless your planning on fixing it up as an OEM and not driveing it..Thinking in the future to sell it or something...Id just get the hood and store it til you deceide to sell it as all original....
Maybe just have it re clear coated..Instead of a whole new full paint job..(Then its no longer all original) defeating the purpose of all OEM.
Maybe have the paint professionally, cleaned (claybar) polished and waxed?...I think the end result will be more likeable than not?
Thus eliminateing the need to repaint it! Provided your not going to drive it as a daily driver...
and with no power accessories...is just 1 less thing to drain on the system as far as performance goes...the less drain of power on the system increases the performance used by the motor. not to mention less things to have breakdown..Barebones performance vehicle!
Not knowing where your from also adds to the delima of what to do...verses what not to do to it.

I own a 1986 monte carlo ss, check the 8th digit on the vin. the letter you should come to is G. That means L69 v8 H.O 305 with 180 hp. That is the motor that came in all the SS from 84 to 88 in 83 the code in vin number were different as that motor put 190 hp. Hope this helps you out.
