Default My first car!

I just bought a 2001 Monte Carlo pace car for my first car and I have done some research to find out how many they made (1300) but I was wondering how to find out what number in production it is and if I can get a certificate to prove it isn't a clone. Thank you for any help that you give. I will post a picture once I get on my computer and not my iPod. Also I tried to clean the headlights with minimal success I am wondering if any one else knows any secrets. I bought the 3M headlight repair kit.

Wayne has posted that the place you used to call for certification information closed down a few years ago.
It would almost be impossible to back track.
Did you buy it at a dealership? off the street?
The only rare way would be if the person you got it from was the original owner and he/she still have the information.
Good luck, welcome and looking forwards to the pictures.

Here's the link Mitch mentioned:

Simply type your VIN in the white box where it says, "Enter VIN". It will give you a detail of everything that was installed on your car from the factory. But it won't tell you the build number out of 1300.

As for contacting Chevy about your build number, here's the most current contact info from GM:

Welcome to the monte carlo family. An 01 pace car sounds like a great first car. Can't wait to see pics.

Welcome to the new members of MCF.

The VIN should help tell if the Pace car is real or a clone.

I did "FINALLY" track down the company that did the C of A for GM. I believe I still have their number.

A 198x anything Monte Carlo will not easily accept a 6x9 speaker. I've seen many a cobble job people trying to install a 6x9 in the sail panel of the interior. My '86 Monte had 6x9s in it. They were mounted to a piece of plywood at was attacked to the rear sear support inside the trunk. You could still hear the 6x9s easily. I removed them cause I want the car to remain as close to stock as possible.

When I bought my Dale JR edition last year I called up gm for the production number and certificate. The gave me the number over the phone but didn't send the certificate, just a letter saying the production number.
