My 06 Monte LTZ is no more :(..
Yeah, was driving alone about 11PM, out runs a moose, I slam on the brakes and it locks up, because the ABS wasn't working properly for a while now, I skid about 20 feet, go from 100KM, to about 70KM/h as I hit it. Take out it's knees, it then flies up and lands basically sideways on my windshield and a bit on my roof. I kept my feet on the brakes, still very disoriented not knowing I was skidding; just wanting to stop. Ended up in the ditch, moose gone, with the windshield and part of the roof like about a foot from my face. Glass everywhere. I get out, check out my car in the dark best I can, then decide I might as well try and drive it out.
I end up driving my car right out of the ditch, parking it in a safe place, and towing it to the nearest body shop. That's where I am now. Friday it will be appraised, body shop owner says at 178,000KM, it being an 06 LTZ in relatively good condition, and the damage may only be superficial, it's about a 50% chance it might be written off.
