Default 84 Monte not starting [HELP]

so for the past 7 months, the Monte has been pretty damn reliable. only had the radiator replaced after years of maintenance. so within the past couple months, some days the Monte would start easily, sometimes not so much. sometimes i would have to jump it cause it wouldn't crank. yesterday it tapped into submission and said "i quit". last year, i replaced the Alternator and Distributor for brand new units. tested my battery yesterday and it was fine, tested my starter today and it was fine but the guy at AZ said its not a guarantee that the starter solenoid was good. bought a new starter cause it was cheap anyway, threw it in and nothing!!

what else could be wrong?
-battery wires are not in best condition
-ignition switch or something in column
-fuses

its not cranking at all

Sorry to read about your mystery problem.

Keep checking back to see what are expert member's post on your problem.

The starter solenoid could be out, check the fuse for the starter also. Bad corroded cables could also cause this problem.

Good Luck

well i got a new starter and it came with the solenoid(not sayin that it couldnt be bad off the shelf). i pulled a few fuses but they looked good and my paint is off the box so i dont know which is which. i'll google for a fuse box image. i might just send it to the shop on Monday and have them look it out. it sucks because i was gonna buy a new vehicle soon for everyday use so i could finish the Monte but now my hand is kinda forced to sooner rather than later. im honestly just glad i have some money saved to get it done. Thanks man

hmmm no crank at all, could be loose wire connection somewhere. If had to jump it a few times in past i would definitely check battery connection, corrosion etc.

I had took the battery to AZ the day it wouldn't crank and they tested it, said it was 100% charged and i hadnt jumped it for a while. im starting to think its the battery wires themselves. Dont get me wrong, I inherited a lot of electrical problems with this car but it for a good 7 months i had minimal problems of this stature. im gonna send it the shop tomorrow cause i woke up late but thanks for all the ideas, i can pitch em to the mechanic and save some guessing game theories which in turn saves money

My guess without seeing the car would be the battery cables and/or the ground to the body.
keep us posted.

thank ya sir. i started it a few times on my trip today and it was fine. i just needed it back so i didnt have to rush and buy another vehicle(which i now have more time to find the one i want). however my Parking Brake light is still on when the car is off but I honestly dont care right now. in a few weeks when i get another vehicle, im gonna have my guy get my Monte right
