Default modifying 5th gen

Alright, I know of zz performance and 3800 performance. Unfortunatly, it doesn't seem that they have much of anything to offer for the 5th gen. Im looking to lower my car, cold air intakes (though from the looks of things, battery relocation and anything for 6th gen)
so without further ado, im trying to make a mod list for my future referance and other monte modders who want to do something... can anyone provide any help on this issue?

Lowering springs, turbo kits, what would fit from any other car?
im sure all l 36 parts internally and direct bolt ( manifolds etc.) Would be universal, but all the other nitty gritty.

i spend time here too, for the intake you really have to relocate the battery. A lot of the other stuff is going to be all custom, but there are a lot of active 5th gen users there that will probably be able to help you.

So what steps would I go about to modify my suspension? I know the 5th gen doesn't have near as much aftermarket support as the rest, but I would think there are parts more similar or at least similar enough to do something with as little work as possible.
I have found some springs that state they are for 99-2005 I drive a 99, does that really work?

I'd have to say no. That's a mistake, there's no way that a 5th gen suspension would be the same as a 6th gen.

Make your own intake. You could move the battery, or turn it sideways.

3800 turbo kits are for pretty much any series 2 or 3 3800. You have a series 2 so you're good.

The main problem you're going to have with 3800 motor modifications is the downpipe. If you get headers, get a nice saw and a hammer to make them fit...

Check Milzy, he probably has more mods that are Monte specific.

For the lowering though, I say check ebay.

Sadly, I haven't done anything to the suspension yet, and I really haven't looked into it too deaply so I can't really help you there. However, with the air intake, this is what I did back in the day and it worked fine:

I didn't turn the battery, I only pulled it out a little bit. However, in order to do this you have to either relocate/remove your winshield washer fluid container. I just removed it since and haven't regretted it either. I'm going on 5 years with that setup and I can only think of one or two times that I wish I would have had some wiper fluid.

What kind of headers are those? They look bad azz. Did you install them? I gotta think the rear ones would be a pain to do. Are they true duals?

Those are TOG's and they do look good. Unfortunately, I had a massive oil leak and oil was baked onto the front header so it doesn't look as good anymore. You can see what then engine looks like currently in the "Show your bays & interiors" thread. I didn't install them because I was too afraid to back in the day. Wish I would have though. I would have made the rear header fit better. 5th gens don't have enough clearance for headers back there but mine don't hardly hit the body, so I live with them.

I don't exactly know what you mean by "true duals" because all headers available for 3800's go to one single exhaust pipe. It's just not practical to have true dual exhaust on our Montes.

You can do true duals to a 5th gen, just as mentioned before you need to move the firewall.

I already have an intake setup. I relocated the battery and cut a hole in the side of my stock air box and lead a 3" hose into the fender. Works the same as most cold airs I've seen.

I am just using this thread as a referance for future purposes and other 5th gen modders.

Also, Zipper: do you still have those headers?
