Picked up my pace car with 60k and started modding it right away.. If you have anything over 10k-ish miles, you might as well go ahead and mod it. I see no special value ever being added to my car just because it's limited edition.

Had some controversy go down about me modifying my Pace Car on the Monte Carlo Club Facebook group. Don't want to point anyone out specifically (can't even remember name actually) but I received some very negative messages towards me doing headers/cat-back/hood/etc. on my Pace Car. Despite the fact that I have kept everything to return the car to original if I so choose, this guy still felt the need to harass me and call me an idiot for modifying a rare limited edition car. But I don't see it that way.

Because when it comes down to it, if someone is truly looking for a 2001 Monte Carlo Limited Edition Pace Car in mint/excellent condition (or any specific limited edition for that matter), they're not going to buy one with 75k miles, like mine, they're going to buy one with super low mileage that has never left a showroom/garage. Just my two cents worth.. then again I also don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon so why worry about what it's worth. Just mod it and enjoy it right?

Mod it and enjoy driving it!

I've got almost 100K on mine and it still looks as good as the day it came off the showroom. I am however, getting the itch to get a G8. It's scary when you look at what people are "asking" for our cars on the internet. It makes me want to sell mine and look for the G8.

Just my $.02

I agree with the others. Go ahead and mod it. It will be decades before any of the 6th gen driver editions are worth a lot of money. Seriously. You'll probably be close to retirement before you see them making tons of cash at Barrett-Jackson.

If you're talking about installing a K&N cold air intake kit (called a FIPK by K&N), save your money. Your stock air intake does a better job at getting cold air into your engine than the K&N. Mainly because it's open on top, and all the hot air inside the engine bay gets in also. The K&N drop-in filters are good. I have one in mine now. But I'm looking at going with a CAI cold air intake.

Go with a CAI brand or Wizaird.

i say do tint first and then whatever else you want to do, do it after tint. these cars are worth more than what people think as far the earnhardt editions go. booked my dads a couple weeks ago and it booked at around 23k i believe same as what it was in 2007
I don't mean to come off as brutal, but I honestly think the K&N and the Magnaflow on the car will be a huge waste of money. I mean hear me out here, you basically said the car has only had 2k put on since 07. Why the heck wast the money on a hot air intake and exhaust that will get little to no use when I'm sure the stock are like new? I can understand the tint because thats more of a visual mod, but the other 2 on a car that only has gotten 400 miles a year since 07 seems pretty ridiculous to me.Again not trying to be rude just what I think.

Like I said in my previous post, don't get the K&N. But I have to agree with BlackRain. If you're only driving the car on special occasions or weekends, you should seriously evaluate whether it's worth the money to do a cold air intake and exhaust. If you really want to do the performance mods, go for it. But if the car gets very little use, you may want to keep the air intake stock.

The tinted windows are a must in my opinion. Looks good, keeps the interior cooler, makes it harder for snooping eyes to see in your car, and saves your interior some too.

Totally agree. If you have crazy low mileage, and just plan to park the car and wait 20+ years for resale- then why bother modding at all? If you're going to drive it, and already have some decent mileage on it- just drive it like normal, and mod it like any other car. It isn't going to be worth squat in the long run anyways- so it won't really make a difference.

I honestly haven't seen any 5th, 6th, or 7th gens that were stock that sold for more than original sticker, regardless of mileage.
