Mobil makes conventional oil, as you pointed out, it is called Mobil 5000, recently changed to Mobil Super. But anything labeled as Mobil 1 is a full synthetic oil.

Autozone runs that deal rather often, its a GREAT deal, especially considering the containers at Autozone are 5.28 Quarts, and the Mobil 1 filter alone is normally $10.99...so to get all the oil and the filter for 29.99 its great. Usually for an extra $2 (31.99) you can get 5 quarts of Mobil 1 Extended Performance (the cold cap one) and a Mobil 1 filter...This is the one I go for.

Thanks for letting us know Amy!

Doubtful that its more expensive there. LOL...I just havent bought a Mobil 1 filter in a while. The last few oil changes I have done have been Mobil 1 EP and an AC Delco oil filter from Wal-Mart. I also like the Fram Xtended Gaurd (gold can filter) that Wal-Mart has its like $9.99 and the ONLY Fram filter I ever ever use. Now that you mention it, I think the Mobil 1 filters are 12.99 and the K & N filters are 13.99....I'll have to look next time i'm at Autozone.

anyone use wix filters? Only reason i ask is because about a month ago we were at world of wheels and they had a wix rep there with all sorts of filters (fram, ac delco, k&n, etc.) taken apart to show the paper and seals and such and made it look like wix are the best. . . yet i never hear anyone mention them on here. . . went and picked one up awhile ago to try em out, but haven't hit 3,000 yet. . .

--Also, glad to see everyone likes mobil 1. . . it's all i've used since my first car.

I've used Wix filters many times. They are great filters actually. I would buy them more often, but I tend to go to Wal-Mart and Autozone the most for auto things, and they don't carry Wix filters. But if they were more available, i'd use them more often. Whats really nice about Wix filters is the fact that they are excellent filters, and still $5.00 or under. Can't beat them!

I can't find Wix locally, but I generally go with NAPA Gold filters as those are made by Wix as I understand.
