Default Minor surging while driving

My 2000 SS seems to be doing some minor surging while driving....it is hardly noticeable but when it does it, the tack slightly fluctuates. ...I had the transmission serviced thinking it needed it, but it still does it. Is that a sign that the transmission is going? Ty, Dave

My 1995 Z34 usually does the same thing, around 2000 rpm in 3rd gear (drive), but only when going uphill. I kind of suspect transmission slip, or that the torque converter is bouncing between lockup and non-lockup. (Not sure if that's the same thing.) But I don't know for sure what it is either.

Does the speed increase as a result of the fluctuation?

My first thought is vacume leak or maybe a throttle body type issue.

When they serviced your Transmission did they notice debris in the pan?

MY monte just got out of the shop this week, for a new trannie.

Mine did exactly what you describe. Mine would jump 1 to 2K rpm while going up hill and I would feel a grinding through the steering column when accelerating from 70 mph - Not saying you do have a trannie problem but if you found any debris when the pan was removed that's a definite sign. Maybe just a solenoid in your trannie

I had the transmission checked yesterday, and the concensus is the Torque converter needs replacing. When I had it serviced, I did look in the pan when they took it down and there were no metal shavings or any other wear showing. So, that is my issue.thank you for all of the comments. ...Dave
