Default might be closing in on a monte!

New member i posted that i was gonna wait till i got home to buy a monte becuase im stationed overseas, but i was on craigslist and just couldnt pass this car up, its been garage kept its whole life, has a rebuilt 350 out of a camaro, only 75000 miles on the car itsself, rails are solind and he only wants 5k! so im having my mother and my brother work with the guy and he seems pretty intent on selling it to me so its looking good!

With this info however i have a question because i have done my research and cant get a straight answer, what adaptors will i need to run reproduction iroc on an 87 ss? thanks guys! cheers!

i dont reallly understand the question. what part of an iroc do you want to use? if its the nose theres a company called lauren engineering that makes a front end camaro conversion along with the euro lumina nose. if its the iroc wheels u dont need any adaptors for them to fit.

ive never run a huge wheel like that on my car so im by no means the authority on this but as long as you keep the sidewall short and dont go super wide with the tire it shouldnt be a problem. this all depends on the backspacing and width of the wheel. the montes have room to fit a reasonably large tire. the tires i run i believe are 12" wide and 28" tall. they dont rub anywhere or stick out with 3.75-4" backspacing on a 15x8" wheel. if that gives you any idea of the kind of room you have.

Welcome Ryan. Congrats on your 87. If you prefer large rims, that's your perference. But 4th gens weren't really designed for large rims like that. You'll be able to shoehorn them in. But the tires will have to be really low profile, and ride like a freight train. Do you plan on lifting it at all?

go with 16" or 17" I had a spare set of IROCs for my 86 Camaro Z28. These sizes look best and you still get a lot of tire.

congrats on the car. like i said you have a lot of space so i doubt that a lift would be required, and personally i think its going to look goofy/donk like if you lift the car, but to each his own. your best bet is to do a search for pro turing gbody builds online and see what peoples setups are, theyre most probably running the more preferred look. another option would be an air suspension. i just looked up a 245/35/20 just to see how tall it is. its 27" tall which is 1" taller than the factory tire should be. you should be ok i would just be concerned with rubbing inside with a tire that wide up front. personally i would lower the car to compensate for the added height of the wheel tire combo but thats just me. im not a fan of the 4x4 look. do your research and be sure to measure everything a 100 times from every angle, wheels turned in both directions, and weight in the car. good luck with it man and post some pics.
