wow this has gotten a big response

well the 2nd guy I took it to can get them out for $150 he says. I'm gonna try that first, then if all else fails from get a new hood with a scoop in it (cuz why not).

oh man thats a pretty nice size dent...then look @ all the alcohol bottles in the garage! lol

buy a new hood...it will never look the same even if you try to pull that dent...just get the ram air hood or something...you know you want to

 

I take back what I said earlier, After seeing those pics. I would not have slapped him upside the head, I would have had to kill him.
I think I would agree that a new hood would be the best Idea.

I knew someone was gonna think that, they are all iced tea bottles actually.

I'm prob just gonna try to get them pulled first, since its alot cheaper. If he can't get them all the way ill go with some cool aftermarket hood.

 

but isn't your friend gonna pay to fix it?? i hope so anyway...i would just tell him to fork over the $150 to repair the hood so you can buy the ram airhood

If you ask me, the old hood can be repaired without the worry of body filler cracking.
If they put the insulation back on it you will not have a heat problem at all.
There are plenty of hoods on the road today that has some type of repair work on it.
A good body shop will repair it without any problems.

Well I hope the advice about NOT being able to use filler over an engine isn't true? Cause I've done it. Okay it wasn't on the paper thin metal used in auto making today, but I've still done it.

I had this cowl scoop welded to this hood in 1981 by a good friend and used filler to smooth things down.
The scoop is out of a '71/72 Chevelle hood.

 

yeah, I would beat him to death.... that's nuts....

give/show him the repair estimate for $1,200... have him give you a check/cash - get your new aftermarket hood with scoop, and put some cash in your pocket.

 

I call people like that "punching bags" cause I'd have wore his gludious maximus out!!! The hell was he thinking to think that it would be ok for him to jump on and slide across the hood of your car?
