Default looking at a monte carlo ss

Hey everyone. Im looking at a 2002 monte carlo ss it has 136k on it and they want 3990 for it. I took it for a drive and noticed nothing wrong with it and its rust free. I dont know anything about these cars. I drive a cobalt and I want something bigger. Is this worth it?

In the size market DEFINANTLY worth it. What's the year a milage of your cobalt? Ls, lt or ss? Some things to look out for on these cars specifically are, check the oil, if it apears bubbly or brand new the owner could be trying to hid a coolant and oil mixing problem. Check the coolent bottle for oil. Take it for a little longer drive and try to see if it has a hard shift problem (common on the 4t65e transmission) this problem will generally apear after 15-30 mins of stop and go driving. So make sure you take it in the city. Also a great price on a monte. I love my monte, I paid a similiar price for it a few months ago. I have no complaints about this car. I know everyone here would tell you to go for it. Hope you join the monte carlo family. Look forward to pics if you buy her.

Make sure you check out the coolant like my buddy says here, thats a big thing. And when you test drive it, listen to the engine as you press on the gas and then check out the brakes. also listen to the sound system, make sure its no crappy tunes coming out and check anything electrical.

I went from driving a 2006 cobalt lt and now have a 2004 monte carlo ss. And I love my monte much more power and its fun to drive. I was getting about the same milage as the cobalt but I did the catback and cold air intake and now Im getting much better milage than the cobalt. Im averaging 29mpg combined. but have tons more power.

The only bummer about it is it doesn't have the supercharger option. It was owned by an older man so its pretty much flawless

you dont need a supercharger unless you want to spend money filling up with premium gas.
