Default look what came in the mail

4.56 ring and pinion gears to replace the weak 3.55 in the jeep now. some bearing and gaskets, carrier for the front d30, and new diff covers. not picture but i also went to the junk yard and picked up a 99 dodge durango gear box it's a direct bolt on to replace one in the jeep. the durango gear box is a good upgrade for big tires help with steering. also got a chrysler 8.25 complete axle rear end to replace another weak *** dana 35. the c8.25 have 29 spline instead of 27 like the d35. plus the axle housing in the c8.25 is bigger and stronger (will post of pics later for comparison). tomorrow have to drop off at the shop for regear and saturday going to my first off road trail, testing my driving skill. i'm little nervous cuz it's a whole new ball game than drag racing. im doing light trail cuz i don't want to bang up my jeep.

Nice looking covers, are they as heavy duty as they look. I never changed gears or rebuild a differential but It looks like a pretty simple process.

the diff covers are iron steel material and well made. the factory cover is a thin sheet metal type. i never done any regear before that's why i pay the professional to do it. it's not simple like it looks, from what i read i heard it's not for an average back yard garage job. you need to know how the gears work, special tools, and patient. where's a link i found for regear. oh i got the little guy off craigslist for decent price. he's a gotti/razor edge blood line.

had the gears installed and regear for couple days now and oh wow im happy with the upgrade so much better than the powerless stock 3.55. accerlation is quicker, i can actually cruise on the highway without it bogging all the time. the new diff covers look good and c8.28 housing tube look bigger than the old wimpy dana 35.

the c8.25 is top pic and dana 35 is bottom pic. as you can see the difference in size of the axle tube.
