Not mine but 2 nice montes for sale locally. First one a 2002

Question ? What year did the 3.8 become a option and just how long has that motor been around ? It seems that GM would've placed a 3.8 in the Pace Car editions ? Unless it was a cost measure issue ? Just curious.

All of the Pacecars came with the 3.8L. GM started using the 3800II engine in the last couple of years of the 5th gen Montes - so I'm figuring 98 was the first year they put that engine in the Montes.

Yes, 98 Z34 was the first 3800 Series II Monte
