lg4 motor making ticking noise by intake need help asap
did you rebuild the motor? or did you buy it rebuilt?
if you bought it this way then did they do a break in on the motor or did they leave it up to you?
Even if you didn't do a great break in on the motor if you let it run at idle for 15min at the least it would pump those up.
the only other way you could have hurt them is by redlining the motor till ya hear the valve rattle. but that is not something most people would do on a new motor.
we used to build the motor on Fri and do nothing with it other then run it long enough o tune our carbs on a stand. past that it was shut off and thrown in the car.
Sat am at 0900 it was running again doing a burn out and running down a track.
i seriously doubt that you put this one threw the abuse i did with our race motors.
the only difference was if the lifters weren't pumped up when i fired mine up it could do a whole lot of damage in a real short time.
just out of curiosity how do you think you damage the motor?
also when you say they built the motor what kind of shop did the work? privet? dealership?
small mech. shop? etc....
did they give you any warranty at all with the motor? ALSO IF THEY DID DO NOT PULL THE VALVE COVER OR ANYTHING ELSE WHIT OUT THEM TELLING YOU TO DO SO!! IT COULD VOID A WARRANTY and Let them have a way out if the motor is bad.
you have to realize that if a shop that is reputable did this work on your motor then they will stand behind it. and if they don't them they have the burden of proof on why they dont stand behind the warranty.

i had a shop rebuild my orginal motor.i had my other car rebuilt there 3 times and the head gasket keeps blowing onthat motor?i had this motor done in the summer time..i broke it in..and there is no way i could redline the motor since its a automatic?sure i wot here and there but nothing crazy.i really dont knoe how i damage the motor maybe heavy on the pedal?yes its a private shop.it does have warranty but i think only on certain things.im going to check the reciept.if anything im going to take the car down there.
ok so it is a privet shop, then take it to them and let them look at it and let them hear it.
those can be a mechanical failur so dont assume you did anything to it.
let them determen that.
Also on the other one you keep blowing a head gasket on.
get the ehads checked sounds liek one it warped . soemtimes you can ge tthem decked and it will fix it but it is almost cheaper to just get new ones anymore.

ye no problem just needs to be done..just i dont knoe what to buy to upgrade, people told me to buy crane compu cam and choose from #2030 2040 2050 from one of those but dont know?and the edelbrock headers 68793,intake maniolf edelbrock 3706..and has to be smog legal..thinking of letting the shop do the work.
ok so what your saying is it has to be smog legal for the shop to preform the work ?
then ask him to help you pick out the one you need . if he is doing the work he can help you decid wha tyou nee dot be legal still.
Also as for the cam and lifters i would upgrade them but that is me. and agian he can tell you what will work with the motor he has built for the car. the came is like the heart of the motor it will change alot of things in that motor so you need ot knwo what else is in the motro to make a good choice. they can pck from diffrent ranges where it will work good in the motor you ahve and still not hurt anything but yet you will feel the diffrence.
Now on a side note. (might be more of a time thing then a know how thing but here ya go)
if you want to have a car tha tgose fast you really need to learn how to work on them. other wise you will go broke in labor alone LOL .
and belive me they are not so difficult to figure out.
if you still ahve the old motor that kept blowing head gaskets. and you dont need it in this car then tear it down and learn how to rebuild it or how to work on it.
a intake and carb are not that difficult to put on the car. the carb needs to be adjusted but for the most part you can get that done good enough to take it to the shop to have it done if you need to do that. but they are not to hard to do either. . most of the time folks make them harder to do then they are. the key is to listen and listen well to the car so you know what is goign on with it. and also use a VAC. gugae and you will be golden.
we ar ehere to help with questions etc..
but the first step is to get a book and learn
one i would recomend is hot to hotrod your 350 chevy. it will teach you how to tune the motor to make it get better preformance out of it. also will explain this fo ryou to see what they are talking about.
onnc eyou start to do it you will see that it is not hard.
Just my .02 worth

yeah like mickey said if you cant do the labor your self you are going to broke your self in labor charges alone ! but to put parts on a motor is pretty str8 forward you just need to do a little reserch and reading b4 you start .as far as the cam thats the brains of the motor it afects every aspec to how long the valve stays open to how high of a lift and that afects the idle and it moves your power band around so figure out what you wantout of you motor then pick the parts acordingly
