They will be '07s and not 08's. I'm sure they'll have several into '08 though. I don't think they advertise because it isn't a big seller for them.

word around here in detroit is that the new Impala (yes, to be the new NASCAR) and the Monte Carlo are going to be built on the current GTO platform, still being built in Canada...(MC that is) V8, rear wheel drive.... you dont think GM would do something stupid and kill one of it's biggest money makers do you? I mean its not a Camaro or something!

Well first off the montes are made in canada but GTO is not. It is a holden and made in australia. The monte isn't a big money maker for gm which is why they are stopping production in 2007.

The plant is going to close in December of 2007 for a month or so. It would make sense for them to roll out an 08 model as I've never heard of a company still producing the same year car at the end of that year. I would imagine the 08's would be made from June or so to December.

The plant will reopen after a month though and be rolling out the Z-Bodies. Not sure what the worker will do during that time.. maybe unemployment for the month.

So after they produce X number of '07 units the Montes left will be sold in '08. Will these '07 Montes be sold as '08 like happened with the 1987 Montes sold as 1988 cars?

As for a large number of people loosing their jobs, think GM cares?

Monte Carlos, Impala's etc are built in OSHAWA ontario, not in Brampton.

Brampton has the Chrysler Plant which turns out the 300's/chargers
I am just up the road from this plant and quite often they run convoys of these cars testing them I guess past my house.
Hundreds of auto carries leave this plant a day full of these things

I didnt say the GTO was built in Canada... and a car line that can run without major change as long as the current MC has and sell the units it does has made big mmoney for GM for a long time now.... change overs cost money.. the longer it runs without a change the more money the company makes...
